One Technics earbud is discharging faster than the other.
The battery in one earbud may not last as long as the other due to several factors, including usage patterns, connectivity roles, and battery wear over time. Here are the most common reasons based on the Technics EAH-AZ100, AZ80, AZ60M2, and AZ40M2 earbuds manual:
1. One Earbud Handles More Functions
- Primary vs. Secondary Earbud: One earbud often acts as the primary connection to the phone and transmits data to the other earbud. This primary earbud uses more power, causing it to drain faster.
- If you regularly use only one earbud, it will experience more battery cycles than the other, leading to uneven wear.
2. Microphone & Call Usage
- If one earbud is handling calls more often, it consumes more power.
- Features like JustMyVoice™ (AZ80/AZ60M2) and Voice Focus AI (AZ100) are designed to enhance call quality but also increase battery drain on the earbud with an active microphone.
3. Bluetooth Signal & Multi-Point Connections
- The earbud responsible for Bluetooth transmission (especially when using multi-point connection) will drain faster.
- If one earbud frequently switches between devices, its battery may deplete faster than the other.
4. Battery Age & Wear
- Rechargeable batteries degrade over time—if you've used your earbuds for an extended period, one battery may be wearing out faster.
- Charging imbalances may occur if one earbud is removed from the case more often than the other.
How to Fix or Reduce the Issue
- Alternate which earbud you use as the primary (switch sides if using a single earbud frequently).
- Reset the earbuds to rebalance the connection roles.
- Ensure both earbuds are fully charged before use.
- Check for firmware updates in the Technics Audio Connect App, as updates may optimize battery performance.
- If the battery drain seems extreme (for example, one earbud lasts only half as long as the other), you might want to try resetting the earbuds or contacting support for further help.
