How to cook Rice - Rice Cooker.



Model SR-2363Z

  1. Set inner pan on a flat surface when adding water. Add the amount of water following the suggested amount by the cooking instructions included in the rice package and match it to the scale marked on the inner pan. Hot water is not recommended for cooking as it may result in soggy rice.
  2. Put the inner Pan to the body. Wipe water off around the surface of the inner pan before placing it into a rice cooker, otherwise it may result in strange noise during cooking. Be sure that the inner pan is directly in contact with the cast heater. Improper contact between the inner pan and cast heater may result in undercooked rice.
  3. Close the outer lid. Plug in the AC cord to the power supply outlet. Close the outer lid firmly. (If it is not securely closed, Cooking will be affected.)
  4. Press Switch. Do not open lid or unplug the appliance while it is operating. Please ensure that the switch is pressed and the "RICE COOKING" lamp lights up properly. (The rice will not be cooked in warming mode.)
  5. After the rice is cooked, the appliance will automatically switch to warming mode. The "KEEP WARM" lamp lights up to indicate warming mode. Let the rice steam and warm for another 15 minutes without opening of the outer lid. Scoop and mix the rice well. Unplug the appliance when it is not in use.

Notes :

  • To keep rice warm and tasty prep rice prior to cooking by rinsing the rice until it becomes relatively clear.
  • After the rice has been steamed and warmed, scoop and mix the rice gently.
  • Do not leave the rice scoop inside the inner pan.
  • Do not warm the rice for more then 5 hours. It may result in a lower quality end product (change in colour, appearence, etc.) after this ampount of time.
  • Do not use the rice cooker to warm other kinds of food. It is for rice only.
  • Do not warm cold rice.
  • Variations in the toom temperature may cause the rice to discolor and lose it's fresh smell.
  • Unplug the rice cooker when it is not being used
  • Clean the dew collector located on the side of the rice cooker by poring out the water, cleaning and sanitizing it after every use.

Model SR-3NAL

  1. Measure rice with the measuring cup provided.
    • The volume of the measuring cup is about 90 mL.
    • The amount of Brown rice is 1 - 3 cups.
    • One Cup of uncooked rice makes about 3 cups of cooked rice.
  2. Wash the rice 4-5 times with fresh water in a seperate bowl. Wash until the water turns relatively clear.
    • In order to avoid scratching the non-stick coating on the inner pan surface, do not wash rice in the inner pan.
    • Wash the rice thoroughly. Otherwise, rice crust may appear and the residual rice bran may affect the taste of the rice.
  3. Add the washed rice into the inner pan and add water. As a rule, add water to uncooked rice in the following standard proportions.

    • Dry the outside surface of the inner pan. If it is wet, it may cause noise while cooking. Any foreign matters between the inner pan and the cast heater may damage the unit.

    •  If rice is too hard or too soft, please adjust water amount according to your personal taste. 
  4. Place the inner pan directly on the internal heating plate, and make sure that the pan is properly located on the heating plate by turning it slightly to the right and left as shown.(Refer to Caution notes below). Before placing the pan in the cooker, wipe off water and moisture from the outside (especially the bottom) of the pan.
    1. Cover with the lid.
  5. Connect the plug firmly into the wall outlet.

Operations

  1. Press the switch button down to the "ON" position. Make sure the pilot lamp is on. When the rice is done, the switch will turn off automatically, the lamp will go out and a click will be heard.
  2. After the switche is off, leave the lid on for at least 15 minutes to steam rice.
  3. Unplug after use. Grasp plug, not the cord.

  3. Adjust water quantity to your taste.
  4. Set the pan in the rice cooker. To place it correctly on the heater, turn the pan gently to right and left.Cover with the lid and let rice soak approximately 30 minutes.
  5. Plug in the AC cord to the power supply outlet. Be sure the wall outlet has a ground terminal. Do not plug in until ready to cook. Otherwise, rice may be ruined.
  6. Press Switch. the red "Cooking / Keep Warm" lamp tells you cooking has started. If the pan is not in the rice cooker, cooking will not begin.
  7. When cooking is done, the switch will pop up and the "Cooking / Keep Warm" lamp goes out.
  8. After the switch pops up, leave the lid closed for at least 15 minutes to steam rice.
  9. Unplug after use. Grasp the power plug, not the power cord.

  2. Wash the rice quickly with plenty of water and stirring the rice lightly to wash it while changing water.
  3. Repeat several time of rice washing→pour off the water, till the water turns relatively clear.
    • In order to avoid scratching the non-stick coating on the pan surface, do not wash rice in the pan.
    • Wash the rice thoroughly. Otherwise, rice crust may appear and the residual rice bran may affect the taste of the rice.
  4. Place the washed rice into the pan.
  5. Add water until the corresponding waterline is at the amount required as per the type of rice you are cooking and dry the outside of the pan.

    • When select “Soup”, the total volume of ingredients and water shall not exceed the maximum waterline for “Congee”.
    • When cooking mixed rice or glutinous rice, please add water according to the following table 1.

    • The above water quantities can be increased or decreased according to personal preference. (When too much water is added, it may overflow when cooking.)
  6. Put the pan into the body and close the outer lid.
    • When closing the outer lid, please confirm that there is a “click” sound, If the inner lid is not properly installed, the lid can not be closed.
    • Make sure that the steam cap (taste catcher) is installed in place.
  7. Connect the power plug
    • Please plug the power plug, and make sure it is connected securely.

Attention

When using the steaming basket while cooking rice, please refer to the table on the right for the maximum cooking volumes.

    • Before cooking is completed, the LCD display will show the remaining time in 1 minute decrements.
    • Refer to the function selecting table for Cooking time.

When Cooking is Over

  1. Still and loosen the rice..
    • When cooking is over, the electric rice cooker beeps and automatically switches to the Keep Warm function (The start indicator turns off and the Image indicator lights up automatically). 
    • For mixed rice, glutinous rice, brown rice and casserole, press the [Cancel/Off] key as soon as possible so as not to affect the taste.
    • Keep warm time displays from to of total 24 hours. After 24 hours, It displays the current time but continues to keep warm. Hour will be displayed when it is within 1 hour.
    • If the function of “keep warm” is longer than 96 hours, it will automatically stop, and the display shows “U14”. If you want to clear the error code, please press the [Cancel/Off] key.
    • Cooked rice should be consumed within 12 hours of keeping warm to avoid discoloration or becoming stale.
    • When in keep warm function, there may be some droplets at the edge of the pan.
    • The rice taste may be affected if the rice scoop is left in the pan when the rice is in keep warm function.

    • Repeat it for several times (wash the rice → pour out water), till the water turns relatively clear.
    • In order to avoid scratching the non-stick coating on the inner pan surface, do not wash rice in the inner pan.
    • Wash the rice thoroughly. Otherwise, rice crust may appear and the residual rice bran may affect the taste of the rice.
  3. Add the washed rice into the inner pan.
    • Use water line on the inner pan to measure cooking quantity.
      Example : When the rice quantity is 3 measuring cups, wash the rice and put into the inner pan, then add water into the inner pan till the water surface reaches scale “3” at water line of “Brown Rice”.

      Example : When the rice quantity is 5 measuring cups, wash the rice and put into the inner pan, then add water into the inner pan till the water surface reaches scale “5” at water line of “White Rice”.

When Cooking is Over

Model SR-G06FG/FGE/FGL

  1. Measure rice with the measuring cup provided. Then rinse the rice thoroughly using another container.
  2. Put the rinsed rice in the pan and add water according to the scales shown in the table below.
    • Adjust the quantity of water to your personal taste.
    • Soak rice in water at least for 30 minutes.

      Add water to the water line on the pan. e.g 6 cups of rice add water to the graduation "6".
  3. Place the pan into the body. Make sure the pan is directly in contact with the cast heater by turning it slightly from right to left until it settles properly.
    • Wipe the surface of the pan before use. lf it is wet, it may cause noise while cooking. Any foreign matter between the pan and cast heater may damage the unit.
  4. Close the lid firmly.

  5. Plug in and press the switch. The light indicating " COOK " will be on. The cooking will start immediately.

  3. Rinse rice repeatedly, in a separate bowl until water becomes relatively clear. Stir with hand.
    • Do not rinse the rice in the provided inner pan.
    • Wash and rinse the rice with potable water or liquid.
  4. Pour the rinsed rice in the inner pan and add water according to the table or follow your rice package directions (example : Brown rice will require more water).
    • Add water or liquid in the proper amount. When hot water is used to cook rice, it may result in discoloring and sogginess.
  5. Wipe the outer surface and bottom of the inner pan before use. If it is wet, it may cause a noise while cooking. It may also damage the unit. Put the inner pan into the rice cooker body.   1. Measure the rice 1-3 cups levelling off in the supplied measuring cup. (Approx. 6.1 fl  oz. / 180 mL per cup)
  2. Wash the rice.
    • First, add plenty of water, stir, and quickly throw away the water.
    • Repeat this process 2 to 5 times, stirring gently to wash the rice each time. ( It is acceptable if the cooking) water is slightly cloudy.
    • Stir the rinse-free rice gently from the bottom. ( In order to allow water to penetrate rinse-free rice more) easily. Heavy-handed washing of the rice can result in the grains splitting, causing the rice to stick or burn.
    • Precaution: Do not leave the rice in a strainer for any length of time. ( The rice grains may break, causing the rice to stick or burn when cooked.)
  3. Add water.

    • Add water up to the Brown Rice mark (Water Level) in the inner pan. ( Ensure that the Inner Pan is on a level surface and check the) marks on both sides.)
    • Add the correct amount of water for the number of cups of rice. Adjust water by approximately 1 to 3 fl  oz. / 30 to 90 mL from the Water Level for "Eco" setting, or 1 to 2 fl  oz. / 30 to 60 mL from the Water Level for other settings, according to your preference. (Adding too much water may prevent rice from cooking properly.)
    • Use a little less water than indicated for new-crop rice.
    • Use a little less water than indicated for firmer rice and a little more water than indicated for softer rice.
    • Ensure the rice is even.
    • Use suitable water. We recommend the use of tap water or filtered tap water.
      • Use of alkaline water (with a pH higher than 9) may result in sticky or yellow-colored rice.
      • Use of hard mineral water (with hardness of 100 or above) may result in dry or hard rice
    • Soaking the rice is not required. (When the “Start” button is pressed, the water will be absorbed automatically.) 
  4. Set the Inner Pan evenly (Check that it is not tilted.) into the rice cooker.
    • Wipe away any water etc. on the outside of the Inner Pan.
    • Check that the Inner Lid and Steam Cap are set in place.
  5. Insert the Power Plug.
    • Make sure the Power Plug is firmly connected.
  6. Press "Rice Select" repeatedly to select "Brown Rice".
  7. Check the setting and press the “Start” button.

Model SR-JN105

  1. Put the washed rice into the pan. Add water  according to the water level indicator on the pan. for example, when cooking 5 cups of rice, pour water until water level indicator "5".
    • Put pan on a hard, flat and stable surface to add water.
    • Hot water is not recommended for cooking as it may result in soggy rice.
  2. Place the pan into the body. Make sure that the pan is directly in contact with heating plate by turning it slightly to the right and to the left until it sits properly.
    • Note: If the outer surface of the pan is wet, it may cause a cracking noise when the rice cooker heats up. This may damage the rice cooker, so make sure that it is in dry condition before use.

  3. Close the outer lid until it clicks. Please make sure that the steam cap and the inner lid is poperly attached.
    • Note: If the outer lid is not securely closed, cooking efficiency will be affected.
  4. Attach the instrument plug to the rice cooker socket and power plug to the power outlet.
    • Do not plug in until just before it starts to cook.
  5. Press the Switch button down to start cooking
    • Note: If the pan is not placed in the body, the switch button cannot be engaged when press down. Be aware of the hot steam comes out from the steam cap on top of the outer lid during cooking. Do not cover the outer lid with a cloth or anything during cooking or keeping warm because deformation or discoloration may occur.

  6. When cooking is completed, the switch button will pop up. At the same time, the cooking indicator "rice cook" will turn off and the keep warm indicator will light up indicating that the keep warm function has been taken place. The outer lid should remain closed even after the cooking process is completed for at least 15 minutes. Then mix the rice well with rice scoop to allow vapor to escape.
    • Note: After the cooking process is completed, the kee warm process will take place automatically until the power outlet is disconnected.
    • Open the outer lid slowly to avoid water dripping out from the outer lid.
    • The switch button should not be pressed into the cooking position during the keep warm process.
    • Do not keep warm formore than 12 hours.
    • Do not close the outer lid with the rice sticking to the rim of the pan. It will reduce the effectiveness of the keep warm function.
  7. When you do not wish to keep warm, siconnect the power plug from the power outlet.

To Keep Cooked Rice Warm and Tasty

  • For better cooking performance and to avoid burnt rice at the bottom, minimum rice cooking is 3 cups (SR-JN185)/2 cups (SR-JN105).
  • Rinse the rice until it becomes relatively clear.
  • After the rice has been steamed and warmed, scoop and mix the rice gently.
  • Do not leave the rice scoop inside the pan.
  • Do not warm the rice for more than 12 hours. (It may result in color change and bad smell.)
  • Do not use the rice cooker to warm other kinds of food.
  • Do not warm cold rice.

Note:

  • Variation in the room temperature may cause the rice to discolour and lose it's fresh smell.
  • Unplug the rice cooker when it is not used.
  • Clean the dew collector by pouring out the water and cleaning after every use.

  1. Set inner pan on a flat surface when adding water. Add the amount of water following the suggested amount by the cooking instructions included in the rice package and match it to the scale marked on the inner pan. Hot water is not recommended for cooking as it may result in soggy rice.
  2. Put the inner Pan to the body. Wipe water off around the surface of the inner pan before placing it into a rice cooker, otherwise it may result in strange noise during cooking. Be sure that the inner pan is directly in contact with the cast heater. Improper contact between the inner pan and cast heater may result in undercooked rice.
  3. Close the outer lid. Plug in the AC cord to the power supply outlet. Close the outer lid firmly. (If it is not securely closed, Cooking will be affected.)
  4. Press Switch. Do not open lid or unplug the appliance while it is operating. Please ensure that the switch is pressed and the "RICE COOKING" lamp lights up properly. (The rice will not be cooked in warming mode.)
  5. After the rice is cooked, the appliance will automatically switch to warming mode. The "KEEP WARM" lamp lights up to indicate warming mode. Let the rice steam and warm for another 15 minutes without opening of the outer lid. Scoop and mix the rice well. Unplug the appliance when it is not in use.

Notes :

  • To keep rice warm and tasty prep rice prior to cooking by rinsing the rice until it becomes relatively clear.
  • After the rice has been steamed and warmed, scoop and mix the rice gently.
  • Do not leave the rice scoop inside the inner pan.
  • Do not warm the rice for more then 5 hours. It may result in a lower quality end product (change in colour, appearence, etc.) after this ampount of time.

Preparations

  1. Measure rice with the measuring cup provided.
    • The volume of the measuring cup is about 180 mL.
    • The amount of white rice is 2 - 10 cups for SR-Z(G/S/Z)185.
    • The amount of white rice is 1 - 5.5 cups for SR-Z(G/S/Z)105.
  2. Wash the rice till the water turns relatively clear.
    • Wash the rice quickly with plenty of water and stirring the rice lightly to wash it while changing water.
    • Repeat it for several times (wash the rice → pour out water), till the water turns relatively clear.
    • In order to avoid scratching the non-stick coating on the inner pan surface, do not wash rice in the inner pan.
    • Wash the rice thoroughly. Otherwise, rice crust may appear and the residual rice bran may affect the taste of the rice.
  3. Add the washed rice into the inner pan.
    • Use water line on the inner pan to measure cooking quantity.  
      Example : When the rice quantity is 5 measuring cups, wash the rice and put into the inner pan, then add water into the inner pan till the water surface reaches scale “5” at water line of “White Rice”.

    • Dry the outside surface of the inner pan. If it is wet, it may cause noise while cooking. Any foreign matters between the inner pan and the cast heater may damage the unit.
    • Make sure that the inner pan is on leveled surface.
    •  If rice is too hard or too soft, please adjust water amount according to your personal taste. 
    • Never exceed the highest water level.
  4. Put the inner pan into the body and close the outer lid.
    1. In order to closely attach the bottom of inner pan to the cast heater, rotate the inner pan along the direction indicated by the arrow 2 or 3 times.
    2. Check whether the inner lid and steam cap are properly set. 
    3. Close the outer lid until it clicks.

  5. Connect the plugs.
    • Please insert the instrument plug into the body first.
    • Connect the power plug. Make sure that both plugs are tightly connected.

Operations

  1. Press menu select button to point ◄ to White Rice function.
    The start indicator blinks.
  2. Press start button.
    • The start indicator lights up and cooking starts.
    • Before cooking is completed, the LCD display will show the remaining time in 1 minute decrements.
    • Cooking time for white rice is approx. 40 min.
 

When Cooking is Over

  1. Still and loosen the rice..
    • When cooking is over, the electric rice cooker beeps and automatically switches to the Keep Warm function (The start indicator turns off and the keep warm indicator lights up automatically).
