Troubleshooting - Issue updating DC-S9 firmware Ver.2.0 (released on June 9, 2026) via LUMIX Lab

We have identified an issue when updating the DC-S9 firmware Ver.2.0 (released on June 9, 2026) via LUMIX Lab. Please note that this issue occurs only when using LUMIX Lab to update. There is no problem when updating the S9 firmware (Ver.2.0) via SD card.


If my camera is operating normally, should I be concerned?
No. Cameras affected by this issue exhibit clear and noticeable symptoms. If your camera is functioning normally and none of the symptoms listed above are present, you may continue using it as usual.


The following symptoms may occur in rare cases related to this issue:

  • Vertical lines or block-like discoloration appearing in photos or videos
  • The camera preview freezing or the camera becoming unresponsive
  • Display distortion or image noise

If you experience any of these symptoms, please gather the following information before contacting Panasonic support:

  • How the firmware was updated: LUMIX Lab or SD card
  • The date and approximate time of the update
  • Your smartphone model and operating system version, if LUMIX Lab was used
  • The SD card used, including brand, model, type, and capacity
  • Whether the files on the SD card are still available. If possible, please note the number of files and folder structure.
  • The camera settings used during the update
  • The firmware version installed before the update

Can I return to a previous firmware version?
Firmware versions cannot be rolled back by the user. If you believe your camera has been affected by this issue, please contact Panasonic support or an authorized service center for assistance.

Are all cameras affected?
No. This issue has only been reported in a limited number of cases when updating firmware through the LUMIX Lab application. No issues have been identified when updating the S9 firmware Version 2.0 using an SD card.


When will firmware updates via LUMIX Lab resume? At this time, we are unable to provide a confirmed timeline. The timing of resumption is currently under review.
