How to configure the Motion Sensor. - Baby Monitor

Using visible light to detect motion, the camera unit can detect motion by recognizing changes in the brightness of areas that are visible to the camera unit.


You can specify the sensitivity of the motion sensor, and also which areas of images are used to detect motion.


Configuring the motion sensor sensitivity


Motion sensor sensitivity is configured using a combination of the following.

  • The distance from the camera unit to your baby 
  • The age of your baby in months

Change the settings in accordance with the growth of your baby.

  1. Press the Power button null located on the top of the monitor unit for about 2 seconds, to turn the unit on.
  2. Press [ MENU ].
  3. Press the arrow up ▲ or down ▼ button to select "Sensor Settings".
  4. Press [ OK ].
  5. Press the arrow up ▲ or down ▼ button to select "Motion Sensor".
  6. Press [ OK ].
  7. Press the arrow up ▲ or down ▼ button to select "Sensitivity".
  8. A message is displayed. Press [ OK ] to continue.
  9. Press the arrow up ▲ or down ▼ button to select the desired setting. Options are Level 7 (High), Level 6, Level 5, Level 4 (mid) default, Level 3, Level 2, Level 1 (Low).
  10. Press [ OK ].
  11. Press [ MENU ] repeatedly to exit.

Note: Change the settings to higher levels in the following situations. Otherwise, there is a possibility that detections may not be made correctly.

  • When your baby and the camera unit are separated.
  • When monitoring newborn babies.

Configuring the motion sensor detection area.


  1. Press [ MENU ].
  2. Press the arrow up ▲ or down ▼ button to select "Sensor Settings".
  3. Press [ OK ].
  4. Press the arrow up ▲ or down ▼ button to select "Motion Sensor".
  5. Press [ OK ].
  6. Press the arrow up ▲ or down ▼ button to select "Set Detection Area".
  7. An operational guide is displayed. Press [ OK ] to continue.
  8. Press the arrow up ▲, down ▼, left ◄ or right ► button to select a cell to disable detection for.
  9. Press [ OK ] to select the cell. Repeat steps 8 and 9 for each cell to be disabled. To enable detection for a disabled cell, select the disabled cell and press [ OK ].
  10. Press the return null button.
  11. Press [ MENU ] repeatedly to exit.

Note:

  • The motion sensor does not function during and for 5 seconds after pan/tilt operations. 
  • Movement may be incorrectly detected when the moving object and the background have similar colors. 
  • Movement may be incorrectly detected when there are sudden changes to the overall brightness level, such as when lights are turned on. 
  • Detection becomes difficult when the image is dark. 
  • You can also adjust the sensitivity of the camera unit’s motion detection feature and select which areas of the camera image are monitored for motion detection.
