How to erase messages on the answering machine.
The procedure to erase recorded messages on a Panasonic single line telephone is the same for most models. However the procedure for 2 line telephones does vary.
Select "Single Line" or a "2 Line Model.." from the list below for operation instructions. For specific programming instructions Refer to your models Operating Manual for specific procedure.
Single Line Telephones
On the Base unit
- To erase individual messages during playback press the [ERASE ] button.
- To erase all messages while the unit is not in use press the [ERASE] button twice.
Note: [ERASE] button may also be labeled as [ ERASE/MUTE ] or [X ].

Using the handset
- To erase individual messages during playback on the handset press [
4 ]. - To erase all messages during playback on the handset press [ 5 ].
2 Line Models KX-TG9471, KX-TG9472
Base unit.
- To erase individual messages during playback press the [ ERASE ] button.
- To erase all messages on a single line while the unit is not in use.
- Press [ ANSWER SELECT ] repeatedly to select the desired line.
- Press [ ERASE ] 2 times.
- To erase all messages for both line 1 and 2, while the unit is not in use.
- Press [ ERASE ], LINE1 and LINE2 are displayed.
- Press [ ERASE ] again.
Using the handset
- To erase individual messages during playback on the
handset press [ 4 ].
- To erase all messages during playback on the handset press [ 5 ].
- To erase all messages on a single line while the unit is not in use.
- Press [ MENU ].
- Press the arrow up ▲ or down ▼ button to select "Answering device".
- Press [ SELECT ].
- Press
repeatedly to select the desired line. - Press the arrow up ▲ or down ▼ button to select "Erase all", press [ SELECT ].
- Press the arrow up ▲ or down ▼ button to select "YES", press [ SELECT ].
- Press [ OFF ].
- To erase all messages for both line 1 and 2, while the unit is not in use.
- Press [ MENU # 3 2 5 ].
- Press ▲ or ▼ to select "YES", press [ SELECT ].
- Press [ OFF ].
2 Line Models KX-TG9541, KX-TG9542
Base unit.
- To erase individual messages during playback press the [ ERASE ] button.
- To erase all messages (on a single line) while the unit is not in use.
- Press [ ERASE ].
- Press the arrow up ▲ or down ▼ button to to select the desired line.
- Press [ SELECT ].
- Press the arrow up ▲ or down ▼ button to to select "Yes".
- Press [ SELECT ].
