How to format the SD card on a Lumix Camera
Before formatting, please note
- Since data cannot be recovered after formatting, make sure to back up necessary data in advance.
- Format the card before recording a picture with this unit.
- Use a battery with sufficient battery power or the AC adaptor (optional) and DC coupler (optional) when formatting.
- Do not turn the camera off during formatting.
- If the card has been formatted on a PC or other equipment, format it on the camera again.
- If the card cannot be formatted, please try another card.
For models with an SD card and built in memory.
- If a card has been inserted, only the card is formatted. To format the built-in memory, remove the card.
- It may take longer to format the built-in memory than the card.
- If the built-in memory or the card cannot be formatted, consult your nearest Service Center.

Note:
When a card is formatted, all of the data stored in the card is erased and cannot be restored. Save a backup of necessary data before formatting the card.
- Do not turn off the camera or perform another operation during formatting.
- Take care not to turn off the camera while formatting is in progress.
- If the card has been formatted with a PC or other device, format it again with the camera.
- You can format the card while keeping the camera settings information stored on the card. View page 691 of the DC-GH7 Operating Instructions for more information on [Save / Restore Camera Setting].
- When formatting, depending on the [Video File Name] setting, the volume label of
the card may be changed. View page 672 of the DC-GH7 Operating Instructions for more information on [Video File Name] settings.
- When it is [Same As Photo(DCF Standard)]: “LUMIX”
- When it is [CINE Style]: The volume label set in [CINE Style File Setting]
