How to record video. - LUMIX S-Series

Applicable Shooting modes



This camera can record 4K videos in MP4 format and full high-definition videos that comply with the AVCHD standard. Furthermore, the Creative Video mode, especially created for video recording, enables you to record using settings for exposure, white balance, etc., especially suited to video. In Creative Video mode, it can also record HLG videos, which are suitable for playback on HDR (HLG format)-supported TVs. Audio is recorded in stereo

  1. Start recording.
    • Press the video rec. button.
    • Release the video rec. button right after you press it.
    • The live view angle of view changes to the angle of view for video recording, and the available recording time and elapsed recording time are displayed.
  2. Stop recording.
    • Press the video rec. button again.

Selecting the Recording Mode

While the mode dial lock button has been released (this lock is found at the center of the mode dial), rotate the mode dial to your desired setting.

Icon Recording Mode Information
[iA] Intelligent Auto Mode Intelligent Auto Mode can record images using settings automatically selected by the camera. The camera detects the scene to set the optimal recording settings automatically to match the subject and recording conditions.
[A] Aperture Priority Mode You can set the aperture value before recording. The shutter speed will be automatically set by the camera.
[M] Manual Exposure Mode You can take pictures by manually setting the aperture value and shutter speed.
[P] Program AE Mode The camera automatically sets the shutter speed and aperture value for the brightness of the subject.
[S] Shutter Priority Mode You can set the shutter speed before recording. The aperture value will be automatically set by the camera.
[Creative Video Mode] Creative Video Mode Creative video modes is a recording mode specifically for video recording in which you can use all video functions. In creative video mode, the recording screen and status LCD switch to displays suited to video recording.
  • You can start and stop video recording with the shutter button.
  • Change the exposure and audio settings with touch operation to prevent operation sounds from being recorded.
  • Settings such as exposure and white balance can be changed independent of picture taking settings.
[C1] Custom 1 Mode Recording modes and menu settings that match your preferences can be registered in Custom mode. You can use registered settings by switching the mode dial to [C1] / [C2] / [C3].
