How to reset a DVD player / recorder.

Factory reset

Follow this process to return all the settings to the factory presets to delete any user selected settings.



Model DMR-ES40


Reset the unit as follows:

  1. Press and hold [POWER] on the main unit for more than 10 seconds. The unit is forcibly switched to standby. Alternatively, disconnect the AC power supply cord, wait for about 1 minute, then reconnect it.
  2. Press the [ POWER] button to turn the unit on.

Model DMR-EZ47


Reset the unit as follows:

  1. Unit power must be on and unit must be in STOP mode.
  2. Press and hold the Channel up [ CH ▲ ] and Channel down [ CH ▼ ] buttons on the unit for over five seconds. The unit will turn off.
  3. Press the [ POWER ] button to turn the unit on.

Reset the unit as follows:

  1. Press the [ SETUP ] button.
  2. Press the arrow up ▲ or down ▼ button to select " OTHER ".
  3. Press the arrow right ►.
  4. Press the arrow up ▲ or down ▼ button to select " Password ".
  5. Press the arrow right ►.
  6. Use the numeric keypad (0-9) to enter the four-digit password, then press [ OK ].
  7. Press the arrow down ▼ to select " Default " then press the arrow right ► to select " Restore ".
  8. Press [ OK ] to confirm.

Note: The default password is 0000.

Reset the unit as follows:

  1. Press [ POWER ] on the DVD player to turn it on.
  2. Press [ OPEN/CLOSE ] to open the disc tray.
  3. Press and hold [ n ] and [ ► ] on the DVD player at the same time for more than 5 seconds with the tray open.

Reset the unit as follows:

  1. Press the [POWER] button on the DVD player to turn it on.
  2. Press the [OPEN/CLOSE] button to open the disc tray.
  3. Press the number button “ 5 ” on the remote control 4 times. (The power is automatically turned off.) All the settings return to the factory preset.
