Setting a shutter type

You can take pictures using two types of shutter modes: the mechanical shutter and electronic shutter.

Press [MENU] → [Rec] → [Shutter Type] → [Auto] / [MSHTR] / [ESHTR]

Shutter Type Settings

[AUTO]	Switches the shutter type automatically depending on the recording condition and shutter speed. The mechanical shutter mode has higher priority over the electronic shutter mode because the mechanical shutter has less function-related restrictions when recording with a flash, etc.

1 - This setting is available only in Manual Exposure Mode. 2 - When the ISO sensitivity is higher than [ISO3200], the shutter speed is faster than 1 second. 3 - Up to an ISO sensitivity of [ISO6400]. When the setting is higher than [ISO6400], the shutter speed will be faster than 1 second. 4 For model DC-GH5S: Electronic shutter sound settings can be changed in [E-Shutter Vol] and [E-Shutter Tone] in [Beep] in the [Setup] menu. For model DC-GX9: You can use [Shutter Vol.] and [Shutter Tone] to adjust the volume of the electronic shutter sound.

Electronic Shutter Mode allows you to take pictures without causing shutter vibration.
When [Electronic Shutter] is displayed on the screen, pictures will be taken with the electronic shutter.
When a moving subject is recorded with the electronic shutter, the subject may appear distorted on the picture.
When the electronic shutter is used under fluorescent or LED lighting, etc., horizontal stripes may appear on the picture. In such cases, lowering the shutter speed may reduce the effect of the horizontal stripes.
