How to set the ratings password and level on a DVD player or recorder.
You can limit play of DVDs unsuitable for some audiences (children, for example). Play and changes to the settings are not possible unless you enter a password.
If you have forgotten your password, it can be reset. For reset instructions select your model number from the lists below. If your model is not on the list Refer to your models Operating Manual for specific procedure.
Model DMR-EH75
With the tray open, press [DRIVE SELECT] to select the DVD drive then press and hold the record [•REC] and Play ► button on the main unit simultaneously for about 5 or more seconds. (“INIT” will appear on the unit’s display).
Model DMR-ES30
With the tray open, keep pressing the record [• REC] and [Play ► x1.3] button on DVD side of the main unit simultaneously for 5 or more seconds.
Model DMR-ES35
With the tray open, press and hold the [REC] and Play [►] buttons on the main unit simultaneously for about 5 or more seconds.
Model DMR-ES40
With the tray open, keep pressing the record [• REC] and [Play ► x1.3] button on DVD side of the main unit simultaneously for 5 or more seconds.
Model DMR-EZ47, DMR-EZ475
With the tray open, press and hold the [REC] and Play [►] buttons on the main unit simultaneously for about 5 or more seconds.
Model DMR-EZ48, DMR-EZ485
With the tray open, press and hold the [REC] and Play [►] buttons on the main unit simultaneously for about 5 or more seconds.
Model DVD-LS50
While stopped, press and hold the 
and 
buttons on the unit and then also press and
hold Play [► ON] buttons on the unit until “Initialized” disappears from the
screen. Turn the unit off and on again. All settings will
return to the default values.
Model DVD-LS80, DVD-LS82, DVD-LS83, DVD-LS86
While stopped, press and hold the and buttons on the unit and then also press and
hold Play [► ON] buttons on the unit until “Initialized” disappears from the
screen. Turn the unit off and on again. All settings will
return to the default values.
Model DVD-LS92
While stopped, press and hold the and buttons on the unit and then also press and
hold Play [► ON] buttons on the unit until “Initialized” disappears from the
screen. Turn the unit off and on again. All settings will
return to the default values.
Model DVD-S100
Reset all the settings to Factory Preset.
- While stopped, press and hold [] and [] on the unit and then also press and hold
[OPEN/CLOSE] on the unit until “Initialized” disappears from
the TV.
- Turn the unit off and on again. All settings will return to the default values.
Model DVD-S500
- The password is required when setting or canceling the playback limitation or restoring the unit to the factory default. When doing this for the first time, key in “0000”. If you forget your old four-digit password, key in “0000”.
- To reset the DVD player press [POWER] on the DVD player to turn it on.
- Press [OPEN/CLOSE] ; to open the disc tray.
- Press the number button “5” on the remote control 4 times. (The power is automatically turned off.) All the settings return to the factory preset.
Model DVD-S700
- The password is required when setting or canceling the playback limitation or restoring the unit to the factory default. When doing this for the first time, key in “0000”. If you forget your old four-digit password, key in “0000”.
- To reset the DVD player press [POWER] on the DVD player to turn it on.
- Press [OPEN/CLOSE] ; to open the disc tray.
