How to tips on cooking evenly.

Tips on cooking evenly;

  • Properly prepare for the amount of food you are cooking and the initial temperature.  When cooking large quantities of food it is more effective to divide it into smaller portions for cooking than it is to heat a large amount for longer.
  • Make sure that frozen food has been completely thawed before cooking; incomplete thawing will result in uneven cooking.  Cook food immediately after defrosting.
  • Cover food with a microwave-safe lid or plastic wrap that does not touch the food. Covering food helps cook food more evenly. Make sure to leave a small gap in the cover so that steam can escape.
  • Set food items in a single layer on a microwave oven safe container/plate for even cooking.
  • Stir food several times during cooking to ensure that the heat is distributed evenly.
  • Follow the cooking instructions on the food's packaging. As different microwaves cook at different rates remember to adjust the cooking times based on the power of your microwave as most foods packaging directions are for a specific wattage and cooking time.
  • Make sure that you wait the proper amount of “standing” time after cooking. Standing time allows the cooking process to complete allowing for better heat distribution within the food.
