How to use the Quick Cook function on a Panasonic Rice Cooker.
The Quick Cook function can be used for white rice, the rice may be harder or there may be rice crust
- For better performance, please add some more water.
- For better performance, please stir and loosen the rice immediately and keep the rice warm for a few minutes after the beep sound.

Model SR-AFM187
The Quick Cook function can be used for white rice, Pearl, and Jasmine Rice the rice may be harder or there may be rice crust.
- For better performance, please add some more water.
- For better performance, please stir and loosen the rice immediately and keep the rice warm for a few minutes after the beep sound.
Preparations

Measure rice with the
measuring cup provided.
- The volume of the measuring cup is about 180 mL.

Wash the rice till the
water turns relatively clear.
- Wash the rice quickly with plenty of water and stirring the rice lightly to wash it while changing water.
- Repeat it for several times (wash the rice → pour out water), till the water turns relatively clear.
- In order to avoid scratching the non-stick coating on the inner pan surface, do not wash rice in the inner pan.
- Wash the rice thoroughly. Otherwise, rice crust may appear and the residual rice bran may affect the taste of the rice.

Add the washed rice
into the inner pan.
- Use water line on the inner pan to measure
cooking quantity.
Example : When the rice quantity is 4 measuring cups, wash the rice and put into the inner pan, then add water into the inner pan till the water surface reaches scale “4” at water line of “White Rice”.
- Dry the outside surface of the inner pan. If it is wet, it may cause noise while cooking. Any foreign matters between the inner pan and the cast heater may damage the unit.
- Make sure that the inner pan is on leveled surface.
- If rice is too hard or too soft, please adjust water amount according to your personal taste.
- Use water line on the inner pan to measure
cooking quantity.

Put the inner pan into
the body and close the outer lid.
- Close the outer lid until it clicks.
- In order to closely attach the bottom of inner pan to the cast heater, rotate the inner pan along the direction indicated by the arrow 2 or 3 times.
- Check whether the steam cap (taste catcher) are properly set.
- Close the outer lid until it clicks.

Connect the
plugs.
- Please insert the instrument plug into the body first.
- Connect the power plug. Make sure that both plugs are tightly connected.

Model SRHZ106
- Measure the rice levelling off in the supplied measuring cup. (Approx. 6.1 fl oz. / 180 mL per cup)
- Wash the rice.
- First, add plenty of water, stir, and quickly throw away the water.
- Repeat this process 2 to 5 times, stirring gently to wash the rice each time. ( It is acceptable if the cooking) water is slightly cloudy.
- Stir the rinse-free rice gently from the bottom. ( In order to allow water to penetrate rinse-free rice more) easily. Heavy-handed washing of the rice can result in the grains splitting, causing the rice to stick or burn.

Precaution: Do not leave the rice in a strainer for any length of time. ( The rice grains may break, causing the rice to stick or burn when cooked.)

Add water.

Add water up to the Delicious Quick mark (Water Level) in the inner pan. ( Ensure that the Inner Pan is on a level surface and check the) marks on both sides.)

Add the correct amount of water for the number of cups of rice. Adjust water by approximately 1 to 3 fl oz. / 30 to 90 mL from the Water Level for "Eco" setting, or 1 to 2 fl oz. / 30 to 60 mL from the Water Level for other settings, according to your preference. (Adding too much water may prevent rice from cooking properly.)

Use a little less water than indicated for new-crop rice.
-
Use a little less water than indicated for firmer rice and a little more water than indicated for softer rice.
-
Ensure the rice is even.
-
Use suitable water. We recommend the use of tap water or filtered tap water.
-
Use of alkaline water (with a pH higher than 9) may result in sticky or yellow-colored rice.
-
Use of hard mineral water (with hardness of 100 or above) may result in dry or hard rice
-
-
Soaking the rice is not required. (When the “Start” button is pressed, the water will be absorbed automatically.)

Set the Inner Pan evenly (Check that it is not tilted.)
-
Wipe away any water etc. on the outside of the Inner Pan.
-
Check that the Inner Lid and Steam Cap are set in place.
-

Insert the Power Plug.
-
Make sure the Power Plug is firmly connected.
-
- Press "Rice Select" repeatedly to select "White Rice" or "Rinse Free".
- Press "Menu Select" repeatedly to select "Quick".
- Check the setting and press the “Start” button.
- When the buzzer sounds after cooking, the steaming stage has finished. Mix the rice immediately. ( This is to allow excess moisture to) evaporate.)
- For the “Quinoa/Quick” settings, the Rice Cooker will display the current time until approximately 10 minutes before the rice is ready. It will then switch to show the time until the rice is ready.

Notes:
- Where possible, choose recently processed rice.
- After opening a bag of rice, use it promptly.
- Keep rice in the fridge.
- For correct water level, follow package instructions if they are available. The water quantities can be adjusted according to personal preference.
- Do not mix brown and white rice (rinse-free rice included). (The two kinds of rice will not cook properly.)
- For Mixed and Sticky Rice make sure to have the right amount of water before adding toppings.
- Use 75 g or less of toppings per cup of rice. (Too much will keep it from cooking well.)
- Cut the toppings into small pieces and place them on top of the rice. (Mixing them in will keep the rice from cooking well.)
- Begin cooking straight away. (Waiting will allow the seasoning to settle out and keep the rice from cooking well.)

- Press “START ”.

The Quick Cook function can be used for white rice, the rice may be harder or there may be rice crust
- For better performance, please add some more water.
- For better performance, please stir and loosen the rice immediately and keep the rice warm for a few minutes after the beep sound.
Preparations

Measure rice with the
measuring cup provided.
- The volume of the measuring cup is about 180 mL.
- The amount of white rice is 1 - 5.5 cups

Wash the rice till the
water turns relatively clear.
- Wash the rice quickly with plenty of water and stirring the rice lightly to wash it while changing water.
- Repeat it for several times (wash the rice → pour out water), till the water turns relatively clear.
- In order to avoid scratching the non-stick coating on the inner pan surface, do not wash rice in the inner pan.
- Wash the rice thoroughly. Otherwise, rice crust may appear and the residual rice bran may affect the taste of the rice.

Add the washed rice
into the inner pan.
- Use water line on the inner pan to measure
cooking quantity.
Example : When the rice quantity is 5 measuring cups, wash the rice and put into the inner pan, then add water into the inner pan till the water surface reaches scale “5” at water line of “White Rice”.
- Dry the outside surface of the inner pan. If it is wet, it may cause noise while cooking. Any foreign matters between the inner pan and the cast heater may damage the unit.
- Make sure that the inner pan is on leveled surface.
- If rice is too hard or too soft, please adjust water amount according to your personal taste.
- Use water line on the inner pan to measure
cooking quantity.

Put the inner pan into
the body and close the outer lid.
- In order to closely attach the bottom of inner pan to the cast heater, rotate the inner pan along the direction indicated by the arrow 2 or 3 times.
- Check whether the inner lid and steam cap are properly set.
- Close the outer lid until it clicks.

Connect the
plugs.
- Please insert the instrument plug into the body first.
- Connect the power plug. Make sure that both plugs are tightly connected.

Press button to point ▼ to Quick Cook
function.
The indicator blinks. -
Press
button.
- The indicator lights up and cooking starts.
- Before cooking is completed, the LCD display will show the remaining time in 1 minute decrements.
- Cooking time for white rice with quick cook is approx. 15 min. (minimum cooking quanity).
