How to use the Reheat feature on a Microwave.

As the microwave reheats, the built-in sensor of the microwave will detect the amount of moisture and humidity coming from the food. And the microwave oven with sensor will automatically adjust the time and power level to reheat a certain food item.


For model specific instructions select a model from the list below. If a model is not listed refer to the operating instructions.

  1. Touch sensor reheat or cook symbol.
     
  2. Select the sensor reheat menu number by tapping the [ + ] or [ - ](minus) on the slider bar. Refer to the chart below for your menu number by model.

  • When steam is detected by the Genius Sensor and 2 beeps soud, the remaining cooking time will appear in the display window.
  • Casseroles - Add 3 to 4 tablespoons of liquid, cover with a lid or vented plastic wrap. Stir when time appears in the display window.
  • Canned foods - Empty contents into casserole dish or serving bowl, cover dish with lid or vented plastic wrap. After reheating, let stand for a few minutes.
  • Plate of food - Arrange food on plate; top with butter, gravy, etc. Cover with lid or vented plastic wrap. After reheating, let stand for a few minutes.
 

Do not use sensor reheat:

  1. To reheat bread, meat pie and pastry products. Use manual power and time for these foods.
  2. For raw or uncooked foods.
  3. If oven cavity is warm.

Model NN-CD87KS

 

This unique feature ‘the Genius’ built-in sensor allows you to reheat a chilled meal with one push of the dial. It is not necessary to select the power level or cooking time. The built-in sensor measures the humidity of the food and calculates the cooking time.

 
  1. When colon or clock mode is displayed, press the or [Start/Select] dial to begin reheating.
  2. To reset the oven and return to clock mode, press [Stop/Reset] twice.

If transferring food to dish, cover with pierced plastic wrap. Press the [Start] dial to begin. Stir at the beeps. Stir again at the end of the program and allow for a few minutes of standing time. Large pieces of meat/fish in a thin sauce may require longer cooking time.

How it works

 

Once the One Push Reheating has been selected, the food will heat up. As the food begins to get hot, steam will be emitted. When the food reaches a certain temperature and it begins to cook, an even greater amount of steam is released. The increase in steam emission is detected by a humidity sensor in the oven. This acts as a signal for the oven to calculate how much longer the food needs to cook. The remaining cooking time will appear in the display window after two beeps. While the Sensor symbol is still flashing in the display window the oven door is not to be opened. Wait until the cooking time appears in the display window, and then open the door if required, to stir or turn the food.

 

Adjust to Taste

 

The One Push Reheating function reheats a chilled meal for average tastes. You are able to adjust the
reheating program to your own taste. After pressing [Start/Select], the [+/-] (More/Less) symbol and bar flashing appears in the display window, turn the dial clockwise for more time or counter clockwise for less time. This operation should be completed within 14 seconds. Default mode is normal.

 

Notes:

  • Press the [Start/Select] dial within two minutes of the door being closed, otherwise the One Push Reheating Function will be rejected (unavailable) and beeps will sound. Open the door and close it again to allow the One Push reheating Function to be accepted.
  • The oven automatically calculates the reheating time or the remaining reheating time.
  • The door should not be opened before the time appears in the display window.
  • To prevent any overcooking or undercooking of the food during the One Push Reheating function, ensure that the glass tray and the container are dry as the one push reheating feature operates by humidity sensor that detects steam emission in the oven. 
  • The room temperature should not be more than 95 °F degrees fahrenheit (35 °C degrees celsius) and not less than 32 °F (0 °C) so that it does not effect the proper operation of the microwave oven.
  • If the oven has previously been used and it is too hot to be used in the One Push Reheating function, “HOT INSIDE WAIT” will appear in the display window. After the “HOT INSIDE WAIT” disappears from the display, the One Push Reheating feature may be used. If in a hurry, cook food manually by selecting the correct cooking mode (ie. Airfry, Broil, Combo1, Combo 2, Convection Bake and Microwave) and cooking time yourself.

  • If the temperature of the cavity is too high, sensor reheat feature cannot be used. The message "HOT" will appear in the display window. Sensor reheat feaure can be used again when the "HOT" message disappears. Please open the door in order to cool the temperature of the cavity more quickly.
  • Casseroles - Add 3 to 4 tablespoons (45 - 60 ml) of liquid, cover with lid or vented plastic wrap. Stir when time appears in the display window.
  • Canned foods - Empty contents into casserole dish or serving bowl, cover dish with lid or vented plastic wrap. After reheating, let stand for a few minutes.
  • Plate of food - Arrange food on plate; top with butter, gravy, etc. Cover with lid or vented plastic wrap. After reheating, let stand for a few minutes.

  • Press [Start]. Reheating is complete when five beeps sound.

Notes:


  1. All foods must be previously cooked.
  2. Foods should always be covered loosely with plastic wrap, wax paper or casserole lid.
  3. All foods should have a covered stand time of 3 to 5 minutes.
  4. DO NOT reheat bread and pastry products using Auto Reheat. Use manual power and time instead.
  5. DO NOT reheat beverages.
  6. Times are based on an approximate serving size of 4 oz.

    Sensor Reheat Operation

    This unique feature "the Genius" built-in sensor allows you to reheat a chilled meal with one push of the dial. It is not necessary to select the power level or cooking time. The built-in sensor measures the humidity of the food and calculates the cooking time. How it works Once the One Push Reheating has been selected, the food is heated up. As food begins to get hot, steam is emitted. When the food reaches a certain temperature and begins to cook, an even greater amount of steam is released. The increase in steam emission is detected by a humidity sensor in he oven. This acts as a signal for the oven to calculate how much longer the food needs to cook. The remaining cooking time will appear in the display window after two beeps. Whilst the Sensor symbol is still flashing in the display window the oven door should not be opened. Wait until the cooking time appears in the window, and then open the door if required, to stir or turn the food. Adjust to Taste the One Push Reheating reheats a chilled meal for average tastes. You are able to adjust the reheating program to your own taste. After pressing Start, +/- symbol and flashing bar appears in the display, turn dial clockwise for more time or anticlockwise for less time. This operation should be completed within 14 seconds. Default mode is normal.


    1. When clock mode is displayed, turn the [Start/Select] dial to select the desired menu. Refer to the operating instructions for Reheat Menu list.
    2. Press the [Start] dial to confirm program.
    3. Select the weight of the food by turning the [Start/Select] dial.
    4. Press [Start] dial. The time appears in the display window and begins to count down.

    Notes:


    • Press the dial in two minutes right after the door was closed, otherwise One Push Reheating Function will be rejected and beeps will sound. Open the door and close it again will release the One Push Reheating Function.
    • The oven automatically calculates the reheating time or the remaining reheating time.
    • The door should not be opened before the time appears in the display window.
    • To prevent any mistakes during One Push Reheating ensure that glass tray and the container are dry.
    • The room temperature should not be more than 95 °F (35 °C) and not less than 32 °F (0 °C).
    • "Sensor Reheat" cannot be used by Alexa control. If you use "Reheat" by Alexa control, product work with PL10(max power).


    Reheating Using Alexa Voice Commands


    • Say "Alexa, Reheat Y (cups of) X."
      X is the food name and Y is the food weight or quantity you’d like to reheat. For example, to cook 2 cups of Coffee, say “Alexa, reheat 2 cups of Coffee.” Please refer to the operating instructions for Auto Reheat Cooking chart voice commands.
