  • Check that the telephone line cord is connected properly. Check the connections by making sure the line cord is secure. When you plug the telephone line cord at the back of the phone, make sure you hear it click.
  • Plug the telephone into a different telephone line jack inside your house. This is a test to see if it is a problem with the telephone or a problem with the telephone jack. If the telephone operates on a different jack then the problem is with the original telephone jack.
  • If the telephone does not work on either telephone jack you need to determine if it is a problem with the telephone or the telephone line. If you have a different telephone, plug that telephone into the telephone line jack and see if you can hear a dial tone. If there is no dial tone, you are having a telephone line problem. Connected to a VOIP - Modem / Internet cable box

A telephone line via an internet modem refers to using Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) technology to transmit phone calls over the internet. Instead of a traditional landline, which uses copper wires, VoIP allows you to make phone calls using your internet connection.

When connecting a telephone to an internet modem, here are some general steps:

  • Connect to Phone Port on Modem: Connect your telephone to this port using a standard telephone cable. Make sure you are using the telephone port specified by your provider (usually port 1).
  • Power on the Modem: Ensure that your internet modem is powered on and functioning properly.
  • Network Problems: Poor connectivity or signal issues can lead to call drops. Check for local or provider network problems.
  • Check for VoIP Service: Confirm with your internet service provider that your plan includes VoIP service
  • Modem Configuration: Make sure to access the modem's configuration settings to ensure that the telephone service or VoIP settings are configured correctly.
  • Interference: Electronic devices may interfere with signals, causing call drops. Ensure devices like cordless phones or Wi-Fi routers don't disrupt signals.
  • Software/Firmware Issues: Keep modem software/firmware updated to prevent stability issues.

Although we can provide you some general information on this topic if you have Internet/VOIP/modem questions specific steps may vary depending on your internet service provider please refer to the documentation provided by your service provider.
