Door will not open on the Microwave Oven

If your microwave door won’t open, there could be a few causes:

  1. The Microwave Oven safety lock is likely activated. Refer to How to use the child safety lock feature
  2. Latch or Lever Issue: The door latch or the release lever inside may be stuck. Gently press and release the door button a few times to see if it loosens. Sometimes, food debris or grease can clog the latch, so gently clean around the latch area with a damp cloth.
  3. Broken Door Mechanism: The door's latch or springs might be broken. If you hear a loose sound or feel a difference in the button’s resistance, the mechanism might need repair. In this case, contacting a technician for service. Refer service locator for USA or if in Canada refer to Service Locater in Canada.
  4. Power Issues: Sometimes, the microwave might need a reset. Unplug it for a few minutes, then plug it back in. This reset can help if there’s a small malfunction causing the door to lock.
  5. Physical Obstruction: Check around the door area for any physical obstructions, such as crumbs or stuck particles, that may prevent the door from opening.

If none of these steps work, it’s best to contact customer support or a certified technician for further assistance. Avoid prying the door open, as it could damage the microwave and void any warranties.
