How to reset a LUMIX camera

Performing a reset in the Setup menu will return most of the camera settings to their values at the time of purchase.

The process of reset and the settings that are reset vary by model. Select your model from the list below to view model specific reset information.

Model DC-BGH1


Reset will return each of the following settings to the default setting.

  • Recording settings.
  • Network settings (Settings of [LAN / Wi-Fi] and [Bluetooth], password when connected to the camera with the “LUMIX Tether” software.).
  • Setup and custom settings (Anything other than [LAN / Wi-Fi] and [Bluetooth]).

To Reset from the Menu Screen

  1. Press [MENU/SET].
  2. Select the "Custom Custom menu icon, resembles a wrench" menu.
  3. Select the "Settings Settings icon, resembles a Wheel" menu.
  4. Select [Reset].

To Reset from Camera buttons

Use this method when you are unable to display the Menu screen on the external device.

  1. Press [Q.MENU], [Fn2] and [Fn3] at the same time.
  2. After all the lamps blink for approx. 5 seconds, the camera automatically shuts off and then turns on again.
  3. The recording setting, network setting, and set up/custom setting returns to the default setting.

Reset Notes

  • If the setup and custom settings are reset, the [Playback] menu is also reset.
  • The folder numbers and clock settings are not reset.

Reset will return each of the following settings to the default setting.

  • Recording settings.
  • Setup settings ([Wi-Fi Setup] and [Bluetooth] settings).
  • Custom settings ([Face Recog.] and [Profile Setup] settings).
  • Setup/custom settings.
    (except for [Wi-Fi Setup], [Bluetooth], [Face Recog.] and [Profile Setup] settings).

To Reset from the Menu Screen

  1. Press [MENU/SET].
  2. Select the "Setup Custom menu icon, resembles a wrench" menu.
  3. Select [Reset].

  • When the setup/custom settings are reset, the following settings are also reset:
    • The [World Time] setting.
    • The [Travel Date] setting (Departure date, Return date, [Location]).
    • The settings of [Rotate Disp.], [Picture Sort] and [Delete Confirmation] in the [Playback] menu.
  • The folder numbers and clock settings are not reset.

Reset Notes

  • If the setup and custom settings are reset, the [Playback] menu is also reset.
  • If the setup and custom settings are reset, [Lens Information] in [Image Stabilizer] in the [Photo] ([Others (Photo)]) menu/[Video] ([Others (Video)]) menu is also returned to the default setting.
  • The folder numbers and clock settings are not reset.

Confirmation screens are displayed in the sequence of the [Rec] settings and the [Setup]/[Custom] settings. It is executed when [Yes] is selected.


Reset Notes

  • When the recording setting is reset, the content of [Face Recog.] setting is also reset.
  • When the setup/custom settings are reset, the following settings are also reset:
    • The [World Time] setting.
    • The settings of [Travel Date] (departure date, return date, location).
    • The [Profile Setup] setting.
    • The settings of [Rotate Disp.], [Picture Sort] and [Delete Confirmation] in the [Playback] menu.
  • If you changed [System Frequency] in the [Setup] menu, a message prompting you to restart the camera will be displayed after the camera is reset. Turn off and on the camera.
  • The folder numbers and clock settings are not changed.

  • Information registered in [Face Recog.] is reset if recording settings are reset.
  • When the setup/custom settings are reset, the following settings are also reset:
    • The settings of [Profile Setup]
    • The settings of [Rotate Disp.], [Picture Sort], [Delete Confirmation)] in the [Playback] menu.
  • The folder numbers and clock settings are not reset.

The [Rec] or [Setup] menu settings are reset to the initial settings.


Reset Notes

  • When the [Rec] menu settings are reset during recording, the operation that resets the lens is also performed at the same time. You will hear the sound of the lens operating but this is normal and not indicative of malfunctioning
  • When the [Rec] menu settings are reset, data registered with [Face Recog.] will be also reset.
  • When [Setup] menu settings are reset, the following settings are also reset:
    • The birthday and name settings for [Baby1]/[Baby2] and [Pet] in Scene Mode.
    • The [Travel Date] setting. (Departure date, return date, destination).
    • The [World Time] setting.
  • The folder numbers and clock settings are not reset.
