How to use Self Test mode on an Amazon Fire TV.

The "Self test" function will assist you to troubleshoot both Picture and Audio problems that you may be experiencing.


Remote buttons you will use for this process are:

  2. Directional - use to scroll through Settings menu.
  3. Select

To activate self test mode

  1. Press the "Home" Image button.
  2. Scroll to the televisions "Settings" Image menu.

  3. Scroll to "Device & Software" then press the "Select" Image button.

  4. Scroll to "TV Self Test" then press the "Select" Image button.

  5. The Self test screen appears.

    • If the Picture and Audio problems you are experiencing are present in the self test the TV does have an issue.
    • If the Picture and Audio problems you are experiencing are not present in the Self test then the problem is not the television and could be associated with selected settings or external equipment. We recommend you Restart the television.

To restart by Menu

  1. Press the "Home" Image button.
  2. Scroll to the televisions "Settings" Image icon.

  3. Scroll to "Device & Software" then press the "Select" Image button..

  4. Scroll to "Restart" and press the "Select" Image button.

  5. A confirmation screen will appear. Select "Restart" then press the "Select" Image button to start the Restart.

  6. After a short period the television will turn off. Then turn itself back on to complete the Restart.

Note: You can also restart the television by unplugging the power AC cord, wait 1 minute, then plug it back in. After plugging it back in the LED indicator will be orange, wait until it turns red. Then turn the television back on.

If you are still experiencing picture or audio issues, unplug any external devices such as a game console or cable box. This will help determine whether an external unit is causing the problem. Turn off the TV, unplug the devices, turn tv back on.
