Blu-ray Player Error Messages


Panasonic Blu-ray Players provide messages when they detect something is not correct or when a process is being performed. This may be standard operation or indicate a problem.
Use the list below to troubleshoot the message you are receiving.

Cannot display on this unit


You have tried to play a non-compatible image. For models with an SD card slot confirm if “SD” on the unit’s display is not blinking and re-insert the card.

You have tried to play a non-compatible image. Confirm “SD” on the unit’s display is not displayed and re-insert the card.

You tried to play a non-compatible disc. Example discs recorded in PAL. Try a different disc. Check the compatibility requirements in the players operating manual.

Cannot play this title

  1. Disconnect the plug from the AC outlet, wait a few seconds, then reconnect it.
  2. Press the Power button to turn the unit on.

If the service number remains displayed despite doing the above, contact a Panasonic Authorized Servicenter.
Inform the Servicer of the service number when requesting service.

Contact an Authorized Panasonic Service center.

F99


The unit failed to operate properly. Press and hold the Power button on the main unit for 3 seconds to switch the unit to standby, press the power button to turn it back on.


If F99 remains displayed despite doing the above, contact a Panasonic Authorized Servicenter.
Inform the Servicer of the service number when requesting service.

Contact an Authorized Panasonic Service center.

HDMI ONLY


Some BD-Video discs can only be output with HDMI. Confirm that you are connected to the television with an HDMI cable.

IP address is not set


The “IP Address” in “IP Address/DNS Settings” is “---. ---. ---. ---”.
Set the “IP Address”, “Subnet Mask”, and “Default Gateway”. (Select the automatic address acquisition if necessary.)


Setting IP Address.

  1. Turn player on by pressing the [POWER] Button.
  2. With no Disc inside the player press [HOME] button.
  3. Select "Setup" and press [OK].
  4. Press the down ▼ arrow to select "Player Settings". Press [OK].
  5. Press the down ▼ arrow to select "Network". Press [OK].
  6. Press the down ▼ arrow arrow to select "Network Setting" Press [OK].
  7. Select "IP Address/DNS Settings" and press [OK] to show the respective setting.

NET


This message is displayed while connecting to a network.

No disc inserted


The disc may be upside down.

NO PLAY


Possible cause and solutions

  • There is a viewing restriction on a BD-Video or DVD-Video.
  • Check the Ratings settings.
  • The media is dirty or badly scratched. The unit cannot play.
  • For model DP-UB820 - A DVD-Video disc with an incompatible color encoding system or region code is inserted.

NO READ


Possible cause and solutions

  • The media is dirty or badly scratched. Try another disc and confirm if the disc plays.
  • Make sure that the disc is compatible. Refer to the operating manual for the player.

If the player is unable to play all the discs, then it will require service.

Contact an Authorized Panasonic Service center.

PLEASE WAIT


The unit is carrying out an internal process. This is not a malfunction. You cannot operate the unit while “PLEASE WAIT” is displayed. Wait until the operation is finished.

REMOVE


The USB device is drawing too much power. Remove the USB device.

SET 1 or SET 2


The remote control and this unit are using different codes. Change the code on the remote control.

Press and hold [OK] and the indicated number button at the same time for more than 5 seconds.


For Model DMP-BD500

Press and hold [OPTION] and the following button at the same time for more than 5 seconds depending on the indication.

  • SET 1: [G]
  • SET 2: [B]
  • SET 3: [Y]

SET CODE 1 or SET CODE 2


The remote control and this unit are using different codes. Change the code on the remote control.

START


A firmware update is starting, the system is being restarted during the firmware update. Do not turn off the unit, allow the update to finish.

The current wireless network security setting is weak. It is recommended to change to a stronger security setting."


Possible cause and solutions

  • Set a stronger network security level referring to the wireless router owner’s manuals.
  • Authentication type for the wireless LAN is set to “Open system”, or the encryption type is set to “No encryption”. It is recommended to encrypt for safety reasons.
    For details, refer to the instructions of the wireless router being used. Encryption is required when playing back video, etc., from DLNA compatible devices.

This player is not connected to a High Dynamic Range (HDR) compatible TV


If you see a message about High Dynamic Range (HDR) compatible issue while an Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc is played back, please check your TV settings as follows:


  1. When you use a Panasonic TV that is compatible with 4K/High Dynamic Range (HDR) and was released in 2015 or later, enable the HDR setting of the TV. (This setting may not be available depending on the TV. Refer to the operating instructions of the TV for details.)
  2. If you use a TV not from Panasonic, compatible with 4K and High Dynamic Range (HDR), please refer to the operating instructions of the TV.
  3. When you play a High Dynamic Range (HDR) disc on a TV without High Dynamic Range (HDR) capability, the disc can be played back (in non-HDR quality) even if the message appears.
